We have our very own pair of orioles nesting in our yard. I’m thrilled as this is the first pair we’ve had. Populations are said to be declining but I am encouraged after several sightings this spring. We identified them by their call and soon realized that they were singing all day, everyday. That prompted me to start looking for their very unique basket shaped nest and they were soon discovered in the top of the aspen tree. It’s the only tree that we have arranged to take down soon. We’ve left not feeling sure who is rescuing who exactly. Birds get to raise a family…tree gets to live a while longer…win win I think.
