Low Tide , St. Martin’s Harbour

IMG_3724_1 copyGoing through old pictures from New Brunswick brought me to this image. This blue fishing boat was parked during low tide in the often photographed spot of St. Martin’s Harbour, New Brunswick. The original pic showed the typical scene which includes the covered bridge and the winding water soaked sandy path, visible between the advancing and retreating tides. A view of the pier and a few small buildings complete the view of a way of life that seems to have escaped time. I had intended to capture the whole scene in paint but, instead, I focused in on this vessel and decided to paint it just as it was, tethered and resting awaiting the inevitable rhythm of the sea to call it out again.
